Originally a product of Allaire and released on July 2, 1995, ColdFusion was developed by brothers Joseph J. ColdFusion is often used synonymously with CFML, but there are additional CFML application servers besides ColdFusion, and ColdFusion supports programming languages other than CFML, such as server-side Actionscript and embedded scripts that can be written in a JavaScript-like language known as CFScript. CFML compares to the scripting components of ASP, JSP, and PHP in purpose and features, but its tag syntax more closely resembles HTML, while its script syntax resembles JavaScript. One of the distinguishing features of ColdFusion is its associated scripting language, ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML). By version 2 (1996) it had become a full platform that included an IDE in addition to a full scripting language. (The programming language used with that platform is also commonly called ColdFusion, though is more accurately known as CFML.) Opnsense ntopng plugin6/11/2023 ![]() ![]() Many of the differences I will be discussing will make mention of the user interface differences, but I will also discuss the differences in the functionality offered by the two platforms. However, I think there is much more to consider beside the web interface. Some users choose OPNsense vs pfSense or vice versa on that difference alone. The web interface is the most noticeable difference so it makes sense that it is frequently mentioned. When I see discussions about the differences between pfSense and OPNsense, the #1 difference that is mentioned is the web user interface. If you notice that I missed something, please let me know so that I can update the information. However, it may be possible I unintentionally overlook the location of some options especially if they are named differently. I will do my best to try to find if both pfSense and OPNsense have the same features but located on a different page in the web UI. If you choose OPNsense, I have written several guides on this website since that is my platform of choice, but if you choose pfSense, you should be able to find the information you need from a variety of other sources. My goal with this discussion is to show how the platforms have differed over time to help those who may be deciding which software to choose. However, I want to be clear that I am not stating that one platforms is better than the other in this comparison. I put this discussion under the “Reviews” section because I am documenting differences between the two platforms, which is a review of the available features. There has been 8+ years of development since OPNsense was born so I am personally curious in how the two platforms have diverged over the years. Even though I am not an expert with pfSense since I chose to use OPNsense when I migrated away from consumer grade routers, I thought it may be informative to do a side-by-side comparison of the differences between the two software platforms. Over the last several years I have seen many users who are deciding to use OPNsense or pfSense as their home network router software of choice or they are migrating from pfSense to OPNsense. ![]() Xonotic vs nexuiz6/11/2023 ![]() ![]() It's still on our palette, LG will be back in the future so stay tuned, but there are other, higher priority stuff in the works right now that takes the time of our main coders. LG was actually there in the game in it's 0.1 preview version, but turned out it was difficult to balance it out well, so it was removed temporarly. However, the next version of the game that should be out in a few weeks or the very beginning of 2012 will have the so called CSQC (client side quake C) codebase fully working, that'll allow clients to set enemymodels, fullbright models etc (note however, it'll be still overwritten by server settings, but I suppose that'll be very rare, at least on official servers).Īlso, render will be done sRGB lightmaps, that'll make everything look a bit more natural and more visible (you can read about that a bit more in details: ) Players being hard to see: we actually have to agree with this, but here's the deal: it's been already fixed (the version is just not releasd yet)! Without going into any technical details, in previous versions there was no way to set player models per client, it was up to the server admin (or players on vote) to force fullbright player models (there's actually a playermodel named "mega erebus" that was designed especially for this). Yo, C.B here again (when does that email arrives anyway?!) Shows that people flame against a game without knowing anything about it. And openarena doesn't come even close to any of those in that list. I would say xonotic has more in common with ut99 than with CPMA for example. Not a rational reaction maybe, but I got a little tetchy by those people in this thread who are negative about xonotic and at the same time act as if it was just another quake clone, comparing it to CPMA, warsow and even openarena. That's why I answered like a troll and challenged you. So yea I assumed that you were trolling (or being stupid) with that in the usual ESR-ish way (my game is best bla bla, like when quakers state that CS doesn't take skill for example). Apparently I misunderstood you but sorry, you looked like someone who would judge a game by a single video which even only shows one aspect of the game. I'm just tired of people judging a game (or anything) without having a closer look first. ![]() Its obvious that it isn't as polished as a game that had 10+ years to mature (like Q3). And it's a lot of fun if you like dueling and fast-paced fps's. Since it is apparent you're trying to convince people it is a great gameThat's not my intention. I would just expect to lose by quite a margin if they were truly the best the game has to offer. I suppose the least it would accomplish would be satisfying your ego that I lost. However if you really want me to try this out I have no qualms with fitting some time in to do so since it is apparent you're trying to convince people it is a great game, but you're going about it the wrong way when you try to issue a "challenge" as a way to prove somehow that because I haven't ever played it that having your best players beat me in it concludes this game is the epitome of skill. Maybe re-read the quote I copied word-for-word from the video and understand the context and reasoning as to why I said I would pass on this. I understand that you feel the need to be defensive, but you're arguing for the wrong reasons with the wrong person when you end up ultimately confirming exactly why I said "I think I'll pass on this one" in the first place. If the video misrepresents how this game is now played, show me an updated movement tutorial video. I don't care how old the video is, I am allowed to base my judgment and be critical of the movement tutorial inthe OP. I think it had something to do with the claim in the video about movement not requiring the same learning curve as other "difficult" systems. Gee, I don't remember why I made a comment in the first place. Happy virtualizing, and thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! Reply If you’re happy with Parallels, there’s no real reason to switch back to Fusion as both are relatively comparable on features at this point, but if you want to try the next version of Fusion (which should be released this fall) via a free trial or something, just check to ensure that you’ve installed the Fusion tools/drivers before starting to use your guest operating systems. I’ve used/tested every version of both Parallels and Fusion since they were released, and while Parallels has indeed been faster in many versions or for certain tasks, the performance gap shouldn’t be as bad as you’re seeing. ![]() Without these tools/drivers, your guest operating system performance, particularly with Windows, will be significantly impaired. You mention that “Parallels ships with its own set of drivers.” VMware Fusion, too, has drivers and custom software that you need to install in your guest operating system (with your guest operating system booted, go to Virtual Machine > Install VMware Tools from the OS X Menu Bar). I just wanted to mention that you may have had a configuration issue with VMware Fusion. Glad that Parallels is working well for you. Also, as I said, If you really want to take the max performance, there is no need to be afraid of setting the nr of processors to the 8 threads of a i7 CPU. To get a fair comparison there is the need to set this to the same number. The default value in VmWare is 1 processor, while the default in Parallels is 4. ![]() Did you check the number of processors in WmWare. Anyway, I cannot see why you had such a huge lack of performance using VmWare Fusion. I agree with you that Parallels graphics engine is much faster than Fusion’s. Maybe the connection problems in my Fusion machine were solvable, but, since it’s working fine with Parallels, I didn’t take the time to find the cause of the problem. But, as our benchmarks will demonstrate, it may be enough to meet the needs of many users. Historically, VirtualBox’s “free” price tag has come with a significant performance hit compared to the commercial options. This year, we’re looking at the newly released Parallels Desktop 10 and VMware Fusion 7, but we’ve also tested VirtualBox, free software from Oracle that provides a significant level of functionality. With this relatively rapid upgrade cycle, it’s important to take a fresh look at performance comparisons each year, with the hope of guiding consumers on which product to choose, or revealing if an upgrade is even necessary at all. The release of consumer-focused virtualization software for OS X has become a yearly event, with offerings from Parallels and VMware hitting the market each fall. ![]() My kid spent money on apple6/11/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Google Play or Apple's App Store you will find published age recommendations in the apps description. Interestingly when I tried to test my new skill using the app's interval testing setting (designed for relative pitch but my aim here was to extend PP testing), it took a while again before I could get good at this level. I used another PP app and eventually got "perfect" at a single-note test using the piano setting of that app. ![]() To Dmitry and your request for feedback, I can't see your app since it's on iOS but I can share some thoughts based on my limited experience and interest in this subject. When tunings started to approach a half-step off from what I had learned, I was at a huge disadvantage. It had some advantages, like being able to tune to a 440 A without any reference like a tuning fork, or being able to call out any chord or key, as long as it was based on 430 to to 445. I happened to be one who was either blessed or cursed with "perfect pitch". What I would recommend is that people work on their RELATIVE pitch skills, since in every musical format, what really matters is tuning notes to pitches produced by other performers around them, or by oneself, and this has little or nothing to do with some sort of univeral "correct pitch" notion, however one would wish to define this. What a nightmare! The pitches I needed to produce did not correspond with the notes written on the page. I was mostly a violinist, but played B-flat trumpet in the middle school band. A different tuning can present a huge challenge to those who have learned their "perfect pitch" and note names around a particular frequency, which includes just about everyone with "perfect pitch". "I don't see how having PP could conflict with or prevent you from acquiring RP." ![]() I simply saw that there was some interest in the subject in the forum and thought that I could find someone here who already has experience with methods used to develop the ability, and probably will give me some valuable feedback.ĭavid Burgess Edited: April 26, 2020, 1:14 PM I was not trying to persuade someone here to buy my app nor claiming that all musicians should strive to develop PP. The few musicians with PP I know personally, have mind-blowing abilities related to the relative pitch and harmonical hearing. I don't know any musician who has PP and doesn't have RP. I don't see how having PP could conflict with or prevent you from acquiring RP. While we can not say for sure whether the possession of PP was a prerequisite or the result of having a great music talent, we can not deny that many great composers had(have) this ability.ģ. Without any thoughts of belittling other music specialities, I think most will agree that the highest form of manifestation of music talent is music composition. I see some logic when people say that PP can be a disadvantage with some music activities, like playing in a not-standard tuning, or playing a transposing instrument.Ģ. So I could only give my current personal opinions about the subject which could change in future.ġ. Partly because I don't have perfect pitch myself, and can not currently fully estimate all the pros and cons of having this ability. I don't have any desire to participate in this kind of discussion. īefore starting to work on the app, during the research phase on the subject, I read tons of posts on different forums where people were arguing whether PP is a blessing or curse. ![]() Cincinnati observatory6/11/2023 ![]() ![]() His work prompted the formation of the U.S. Cleveland Abbe (1838-1916) inaugurated daily weather predictions based on telegraph reports. Her work is still collected today by many and highly sought after. Then in 1892 Maria Longworth, granddaughter of Nicholas Longworth, opened Rookwood Pottery. Around that time the hill became occupied by a working-class blue-collar population. The Highland House, the incline hilltop resort, was a popular entertainment venue. The Mount Adams Incline was completed in 1872 and linked downtown Cincinnati with the hilltop community. One was installed at Fort View Place and the other near the present location of the Playhouse in the Park. ĭuring the American Civil War two artillery emplacements were installed on the hill to help defend the city from the Confederacy. The first Protestant church of any denomination to be founded in that neighborhood was Pilgrim Presbyterian Church on Ida Street, near the Ida Street Viaduct. The monastery is now the corporate headquarters of Towne Properties – a property management company.Īlthough Cincinnati was largely Presbyterian in its early history, Mount Adams was originally a strongly Catholic working-class community composed of the Germans and Irish. The old observatory later became the Holy Cross Monastery and Church and expanded, but closed in 1977. The observatory is still in operation today, though in 1871 it was moved to its current location in Mount Lookout due to excessive smoke from downtown buildings. The hill was renamed Mount Adams in honor of President John Quincy Adams, who delivered the observatory's dedication address. When the Cincinnati Observatory opened in 1843 it owned the most powerful telescope of its kind. Īllegedly to increase his property value Longworth donated a portion of the hilltop to the Cincinnati Astronomical Society for an observatory. The American Civil War created a shortage of manpower needed for vineyard labor, and the death of Longworth in 1863 furthered the end of Cincinnati's wine industry. The wine inspired Henry Wadsworth Longfellow to write the poem "Ode to the Catawba Wine." Contemporaries reported that Longworth's wine "transcends the Champagne of France." The winemaking industry around Cincinnati grew rapidly for several decades until it was virtually destroyed by downy mildew, powdery mildew, and black rot around 1860. Longworth would become the first commercially successful winemaker in the United States, and has been called the "Father of the American Wine Industry." During the 1830s and 1840s Longworth cultivated Catawba grapes, which were used in making his champagne known as Golden Wedding. In 1831, Nicholas Longworth, a wealthy attorney, purchased the mansion that is now the Taft Museum of Art and the large lot of land behind including barren Mount Adams. In the early 1800s the steep Mount Adams hillside was largely barren as early settlers had cut down all the trees for timber to construct their homes. The namesake was from Ida Martin, a washerwoman who lived in the hollow of an old sycamore tree located on a steep hill. Mount Adams was originally known as Mount Ida. ![]() |
